Marble is very much on trend at the moment, particularly as it creates a very luxurious yet modern feel. I've been in love with the marbling trend since I first saw it, so i decided to try it out for myself.
I created these incredible bowls (as pictured above) very easily and affordably, and now its your turn to make some as well!

I created these incredible bowls (as pictured above) very easily and affordably, and now its your turn to make some as well!
What you'll need:
- Ceramics: I used small bowls which I purchased for $2.50 from a discount shop, but you could use mugs, vases, jars, cutlery etc.
- Nail Polish: I purchased a very cheap, blue nail polish which costed me $3 (also from a discount store) Feel free to use a few colours for your marbling. (mixing glitter and block coloured nail polishes would look awesome!)
- Large container: which can fit your ceramic items
- Aluminium Foil
- Skewer
Now that you've got everything, LET'S GET STARTED!
Tear off two sheets of Aluminium foil and press them onto the insides of the bowl (this will prevent the nail polish from staining the bowl). Next Fill the bowl up with water - enough to submerge whatever item you're dyeing.
Drizzle the nail polish in the water, swirl it around to try and cover a larger surface area. Once the nail polish has hit the water you have to work fast
Using the skewer, swirl the nail polish around; creating a marbled pattern.
Submerge the dish/ceramic item into the water, hold for a couple of seconds and then pull it back out.Note: Your fingers will become covered in nail polish so you may want to wear gloves (i found out the hard way!)
THE BIG REVEAL
THE BIG REVEAL
I love how they go in white and then come out with these gorgeous patterns. These would be gorgeous as christmas gifts as they are or they could be filled with a few bits and pieces and then wrapped up! They would also make great feature pieces on a tablescape - mix & match colours to suit a particular theme.
Let the ceramics dry for a few hours, then you can remove any unwanted polish using nail polish remover!
Now you've got completely new & exciting bowls (or whatever else you've chosen) to take pretty picture of your food in, give to people as gifts, or do whatever it is you desire to use these for! Do note that these are not dishwasher safe - the polish will come off. However a gentle hand wash should keep them in perfect condition. Lots of Love x |
